چکیده

the number of people with diabetes mellitus is increasing and cataracts are one of the most common causes of visual impairment in these patients. advances in cataract surgery have generally resulted in favorable surgical outcomes. however, surgery may not be safe and effective in individuals who were previously not candidates for surgery or who had limited visual prognosis. many questions remain regarding cataracts in diabetic patients. this study will review the relevant articles. studies were obtained from computerized searches of medline with keywords of “diabetes”, “cataract”, “diabetic retinopathy”, and “diabetic maculopathy”.
